Wireless DisplayPort Extension Solution

Workstations, graphics cards and professional monitors mostly use DisplayPort, while ANLYA modules carry HDMI. This design puts a DP-to-HDMI chip on the TX carrier board so it takes the DP output directly. The RX outputs HDMI, or drives a DP monitor through an HDMI-to-DP chip on its own carrier board. The modules stay the same; all interface conversion happens on the carrier boards.

PAIN POINTS

Pain Points

01

Adapters stacked on adapters

The usual fix is a DP-to-HDMI adapter plugged into the DP port, then a wireless transmitter on top. That adds a dangling adapter and cable behind the PC. It works loose, the screen goes black when someone bumps it, and when something fails nobody can tell whether it is the adapter or the wireless link.

02

Adapter compatibility is a gamble

Off-the-shelf adapters differ in the resolutions, refresh rates and audio they support, and they all look the same on paper. Problems such as a capped resolution or missing sound only show up on site, and the only fix is swapping adapters until one works.

03

The monitor end is DP too

Many professional monitors have only DP inputs, or reach their full spec only over DP. If the receiver outputs HDMI alone, another adapter goes on the monitor side, and now there are compatibility issues at both ends.

04

Black screens, no audio, forced downscaling

Every extra conversion step is another chance for EDID data to be lost or altered. When the source cannot read what the display really supports, the result is a black screen, no audio, or a resolution forced down to a lower setting.

Conversion built into the TX carrier board

The TX carrier board includes a DP-to-HDMI chip, so a single DP cable runs from the workstation or graphics card to the transmitter with no external adapter. The module itself is unchanged; only the input section of the carrier board is redesigned.

You choose and lock the conversion chip

You select the conversion chip for your target resolution and fix it on the carrier board, so every unit ships with the same part instead of whatever adapter is on hand. For 4K60, confirm during selection that the chip supports 4K60.

RX output matched to the monitor

The RX outputs HDMI as standard. To drive a DP monitor, add an HDMI-to-DP chip on the RX carrier board. Note that on the 4K60 models the TX and RX pinouts differ, so the two carrier boards must be designed separately.

Full EDID pass-through, audio and KVM included

The RX reads the display's real EDID and returns it to the source, which avoids black screens, missing audio and forced downscaling. Video, audio and KVM data share one link, so a keyboard and mouse at the RX can operate the workstation directly.

SELECTION

Selection & Design Notes

  1. Whether the system reaches 4K60 depends on the DP-to-HDMI chip you choose, so check its specs before committing the carrier board design.
  2. On the 4K60 models the TX and RX need separate carrier boards because their pinouts differ. The 4K30 TX and RX can share one board, but 4K30 and 4K60 boards are not interchangeable.
  3. Keep the VBUS supplied to the module within 3.7 to 5.1 V. Anything above 5.1 V will damage it.
  4. Pick a wireless range tier (roughly 30-100 m, 100-300 m or 300-1000 m) or a wired or fiber link to suit the site. The range tier does not affect resolution.
FAQ

FAQ

Q1Can the module accept DP directly?
No. The module's video interface is HDMI only, so a DP signal goes through a DP-to-HDMI chip on the carrier board before it reaches the TX. The same applies at the receiver: to drive a DP monitor, add an HDMI-to-DP chip on the RX carrier board.
Q2Can a DP design run at 4K60?
With the 4K60 models (ATE9460 / ATE9461), the link itself carries 4K60 at every range tier. Whether the finished product reaches 4K60 also depends on the conversion chip on your carrier board.
Q3Is there reference design material?
Yes. We provide the ATE946X-KIT evaluation kit (with a demo carrier board and antenna), the demo board schematic and PCB reference, the pin definitions, and 2D/3D models. The DP conversion circuit is added on your own carrier board.
Q4Can you build the DP wireless product as OEM / PCBA?
Yes. We design the boards to your form factor, interfaces and range, handle ODM development and PCBA production, and offer white-label OEM; or buy the modules and design the carrier yourself. Validate link, range and picture with the ATE946X-KIT before prototyping.
