Key differences
Output resolution and refresh rate
ATE9430R outputs up to 3840 × 2160 @ 30Hz and up to 120Hz at 1080p. ATE9461 outputs up to 3840 × 2160 @ 60Hz and 1080p at 240 / 165 / 144 / 120Hz, provided the display's EDID declares that refresh rate. Both decode H.265 with low latency and pass LPCM 2.0 / 5.1 / 7.1 plus Dolby Digital and DTS bitstreams over HDMI.
Sharing a carrier with the transmitter
ATE9430R and ATE9430T share one pinout, so the same carrier becomes a transmitter with ATE9430T and a receiver with ATE9430R: one PCB, two products. ATE9461 differs from ATE9460, with VBUS on pins 18 / 20 / 22 / 24 versus 53 / 55 / 57 on ATE9460, so the RX carrier needs its own design. Carriers cannot be mixed between 4K30 and 4K60 either.
Audio and control interfaces
ATE9461's spec lists a built-in audio DAC with DAC_L / DAC_R on pins 68 / 70; add a headphone jack on the carrier for analog audio, which switches over from HDMI audio when headphones are plugged in. I²C on pins 10 / 12 lets a carrier MCU read status. ATE9430R also has a built-in audio DAC and I²C, so both receivers support analog audio out and status reads from a carrier MCU. Pin positions differ between the 4K30 and 4K60 parts; follow each datasheet.
What they share
Both receive over 5 GHz wireless or the built-in 100M Ethernet port, read the display's EDID and return it to the transmitter, and support KVM with keyboards, mice, touch panels and barcode scanners at the receiver. Both overlay an OSD with pairing and key information on the HDMI output after pairing. ATE9461 draws 500 – 600 mA (2.3 – 2.8 W); ATE9430R current is TBD.
Which one to pick
If the transmitter is already ATE9460
The receiver must be ATE9461If the transmitter is ATE9430T, or you want both ends on one carrier board
Choose ATE9430RIf the receiver box drives a 1080p 240Hz gaming monitor
Choose ATE9461 (paired with ATE9460)
